Here we go again...

... this time to St. Gilgen.

 

Sometimes in life one door is closing and another one is opening again. That is life.

 

I am very happy to announce that there is another Retreat coming your way. Pencil in the date in your calendar right now.

From the 12th to the 13th November 2022!

 

It is shorter !

It is closer ! (to Salzburg, where most of my clients are located)

And it is more flexible !

 

You can choose to either do the full Retreat with a one night stay at the beautiful Villa Alma, or you just join us for the Day Retreat on the Sunday. Plenty of options, which one are you going to take????

 

Location is everything

Once you have seen the Wolfgang lake in the Austrian Salzkammergut you are in love with it. And for those who have not made it the 30-40 minutes from Salzburg city out there, you will fall in love. Every time I come down the hill from Fuschl and look down on St. Gilgen it really touches me. The lake with the surrounding mountains and that stunning blue colour of the water. It is very special.

And all of that is going to get even better with our beautiful hotel. The Villa Alma is a boutique hotel with 8 rooms situated directly on the lake front. Your own private lake access. You might think now: "Hold on, November is not exactly swimming season." True, but let's just keep an open mind and see about that. And anyway, being that close to the lake is special at any time of the year.

We will have the hotel to ourselves. The rooms are decorated with a lot of love and attention to detail. All different sizes and some have that very popular view over the lake. I would definitely hurry to book one of those - so worth it.

 

Now let's talk about the Retreat

As I said earlier, this retreat is shorter, closer to Salzburg and more flexible.

It is a Pilates retreat and we will do Pilates daily, but not just Pilates. There will be walks and moderate Interval training sessions, paired with some brain training. Really something for everyone.

 

The wellness and relaxation part will be taken over by my dear friend, Olga Winkler. Olga is the owner of the RE-GEN studio in Salzburg and will offer a muscle regenerating Balancer massage and/or electric magnetic field therapy. Olga will also guide us through a cold water therapy. And that is where the lake and the direct access to it comes in handy again. All those treatments, and all others she offers in her studio, help to relieve pain, accelerate cell regeneration and support the lymphatic system.

Without giving too much away about the itinerary, we will start on Saturday the 13th at 2pm with a warm welcome. Followed by our first workout session that day. Yes, there will be another one in the later afternoon. In the evening the team of the Villa Alma will spoil us with a light and healthy dinner and we will have time to relax and chat and enjoy the evening. On Sunday morning the Day Retreaters will join us and we'll start our first workout session before breakfast. After breakfast I will give an introduction talk to our most important female hormones, their likes & dislikes and a hormone friendly lifestyle & nutrition. Le's call it the 'Happy Hormone Talk".

But talking about female hormones does not mean that men are not welcome at the Retreat. There will be an alternative program for them.

More workouts and a delicious lunch in between, and we should be finished by around 4:30/5pm.

 

 

Why a Pilates Retreat???

Because I love Pilates! First of all I am a Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor since many years. Second: there are many Yoga Retreats out there. You can supplement any other sport you do with Pilates and it will help you to stay supple, strong and prevent injuries. I love to tell my clients: "No matter what sport you are doing, make sure you'll do Pilates as well. It makes everything better". And it is that combination of different exercises and the benefits of Pilates that I would like to introduce you to during this Retreat.

 

What was Pilates again? 

Pilates is a full body training, which can either be practiced on the mat or on the special Pilates machines. The focus is always on strengthening your core muscles, which are essential for an upright posture. The movements are rather slow and will be executed with control - always in unison with your breathing.

 

Will this be your first Retreat???

It is not necessary to be an experienced "Retreater" or super fit.  I would love to inspire and motivate you to an active and healthy lifestyle. All that matters is that you love to move and want to give yourself a little treat.

Over the years I have done several retreats. Every single one was special and beautiful and always a little bit different. The locations of my previous retreats were on a different continent though - in Kenya! We were either working out in tropical, jungle like places at the Kenyan Coast or did Pilates in dry river beds in the beautiful Samburu - surrounded by wilderness in one of Kenya's most beautiful Safari lodges. I am planning another Kenyan Coast Retreat for Autumn 2023. So if you are interested, please let me know.

This retreat though, will be on European soil in the beautiful Austrian Alps and I am so looking forward to it. I hope you do too.

Time for Pilates, outdoor workouts, relaxation & inspiration

 

When it was time for my annual Fit & Wellness Retreat I was positively excited for weeks in advance. Yes, it is work for me as the trainer, the person that is guiding you through your 'Active Me Time Weekend' , but it is still a very special time for me as well.

Anybody loves some time away from the every day life. With me, your 'time-out' will be active - always balanced and focussed on your health with lots of fun added. I want you to feel energised & relaxed by the time you are leaving again. The place for the Retreat is just an hour drive from Salzburg, near Schladming, in the beautiful Nature & Wellness Hotel Höflehner at 1117m altitude.

 

A Pilates Retreat in the mountains

As the name says, the whole weekend is about doing Pilates, but not only Pilates. We, that is my dear friend and colleague Caro Rettensteiner and myself, are planning to move you in lots of different ways. There will also be Nordic Walking, Aquaerobics, Life Kinetik (train your brain!!!) and a little bit of HIIT training. All can be done, but nothing has to be done. Feel free to join those sessions you have fun with and your body will benefit from.

Please do not fear we will rush from workout to workout... There will be enough time to enjoy the beautiful hotel Spa. Furthermore, I will also introduce you to the female hormone system (and how to keep them in balance) while the hotel kitchen will spoil us with local, organic & delicious meals.

This retreat though, set in the stunning Austrian Alps, will be my first, and also Caro's, on home turf. We have chosen the lovely Nature & Wellness Hotel Höflehner near Schladming - about an hour drive from Salzburg. The hotel is on 1117m altitude with a fantastic view in the mountains and the valley. Already when you enter the hotel, you feel relaxed. The public areas as well as the rooms are all done in Chalet Chic style. The 'Yoga house' is up the hill (50m) and has a really special vibes, while the Spa will put you in relaxation mode.
